Social Media Specialist

Independent Contractor

Lilypad Virtual is seeking a skilled and dedicated Social Media Specialist to support our clients in growing their social media following and increasing sales through engaging, effective social content. This role is ideal for a proactive and self-motivated individual with proven experience in social media and knowledge in dog behaviour.  This Independent Contractor role is extremely flexible (make your own hours!) and remote from anywhere.

This role is part-time with room for growth and perfect for anyone who is passionate about force-free, evidence based dog training and who genuinely enjoys content creation.

Job Description

  • Position: Social Media Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Develop Reels, Carousels and single posts, as well as accompanying captions and hashtags for multiple clients in the dog training and behaviour industry.

  • Social Strategy: Review business goals, specializations and personality; develop social media strategies specific to these details, with attention to each business’ voice and messaging.

  • Community Management: Engage in community management activities to build client presence on their chosen platforms.

  • Data Tracking: Tracking and analyzing performance of content to see what is working and to inform your overall social strategy.

  • Follow Social Media Trends and Updates: Stay abreast of updates to social media algorithms and trends to best serve our clients.

Skills & Requirements

  • Social Media Experience: Proven experience developing successful social media content for brands or businesses other than yourself, including switching between client voice, target audience and tone.

  • Multi-Platform Experience: Proficiency in Instagram, Facebook and Meta Business Suite.

  • Video Editing & Design: Basic video editing and design skills using Canva or your chosen software.

  • Behaviour & Training Knowledge: Experience in the dog/behaviour world; ideally a certified dog trainer, but also open to veterinary, shelter or other dog-related experience.

  • Communication: Excellent written communication skills, ability to communicate complex behaviour concepts to laymen readers, good creative writer and thinker.

  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines consistently and work independently.

  • Internet Connection: A reliable internet connection is required.

  • Invested in Client Success: Treat client businesses like they are your own and celebrate client success.

  • Responsible: Mature and able to protect confidential and proprietary client information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graphic Design: Experience in graphic design is advantageous.

  • Newsletters: Experience and comfort in newsletter design, strategy and/or coordination preferred.

  • Blogging: Experience creating SEO-friendly blogs preferred.

  • Website editing: Comfort using Wix and Squarespace to make basic website edits advantageous.
